Coaches Policy
The Bentleigh Lakers are a community basketball club, who are supported primarily by volunteers. This includes our coaching staff.
The coaching staff are responsible for teaching and developing the players fundamental skills at training and team play on game days. All coaches also understand and emphasise the fun aspect of the sport as well as the importance of teamwork, discipline, respect for others and fair competition.
All Bentleigh Lakers, team coaches must have a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete online Child Safety training and agree to and abide with the Club’s Coach Code of Conduct and Child Safe Code of Conduct.
Bentleigh Lakers are committed to providing the highest level of coaching support to our players as possible.
The club endeavors to provide support and resources for its coaches, including:
- Coaches top
- Training kits including training aids, balls etc
- Entry into various BA and Basketball Victoria accredited coaching seminars
- Participation in Level 1 coaching course upon the completion of at least one (1) full season of coaching
Without the valuable contribution of all the volunteer coaches and/or Team Managers, the club could not operate!
Coaching – Discount Structure
To recognise and reward the effort of our volunteer coaches, the Bentleigh Lakers provide registration fee discounts for all coaches.
